Meet Trash.

Meet Trash.

My love for clothes began with trash bags. I come from a hand-me-down family. Midsummer, we’d receive black plastic bags stuffed with clothes from my aunties and cousins. Inside were cotton tees, sweaters, some jeans, and on a lucky day, “designer clothes,” specifically Esprit clothes.

My sisters and I would dump all the clothes into one pile, then attack. It was our version of Black Friday. Armed with my bounty, I’d disappear into my room for hours to try on my “new” clothes.

What was once unwanted soon became my treasured go-to outfits on those hot summer days and even the next school year.

When I see black garbage bags, I don’t immediately see discarded matter. Instead, I see the potential of resurrected treasure.

Here, at Christine Garcia Collective, we see the value of the unwanted, the abandoned, the discarded, the rejected. They’re all treasures ready to be discovered by someone who recognizes their value. ♾️
